Goal of Human Life

In this material world, according to the Vedic scriptures, there are 84,00,000 species of life. Among them there are 4,00,000 species of human begins. All the living beings are busy, working to fulfill their bodily demands – eating, sleeping, mating and defending.

Human beings have developed intelligence. They can solve the problems of life: birth, death, old age and diseases. But due to ignorance of the self, the modern civilization is trying to satisfy the bodily demands and is neglecting the primary goal of life – devotional service to the Lord.  In order to understand the goal of life and get a permanent solution to all problems, one has to approach a bonafide spiritual master. Milestones in the life of Srila Prabhupada

His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness was born on September 1,1896, in Calcutta. His father Gour Mohan De and mother Rajani Devi were Vaishnavas. They belonged to one of the very respectable aaristocratic families of gold merchants in Calcutta. His father Gour Mohan De named him Abhay Charan. His father's only wish was that Abhay should become a devotee of Srimati Radharani. Read more...
